February 4, 2025 — The Goldfinch protocol — which has previously lent over $100 million onchain — announced today that it’s bringing first-of-its-kind exposure to institutional-grade private credit funds onchain in a pool called Goldfinch Prime.

Goldfinch Prime will provide non-U.S. investors with a single diversified pool, with exposure to thousands of loans from leading private credit firms that collectively manage over $1 trillion in AUM, including:

  • Apollo Global Management
  • Ares Management
  • Golub Capital

Expanding private credit access in a growing RWA market

With VanEck projecting the tokenized real-world asset (RWA) market to surpass $50 billion in 2025, Goldfinch Prime is positioned to expand global investor access to high-quality private credit funds onchain.

“Goldfinch Prime is leading the evolution of RWA as a category. Our goal is to be the leader in bringing the largest institutions onchain as private credit expands in 2025,” said Mike Sall, co-founder of Goldfinch. “By bringing exposure to some of the world’s most trusted private credit managers onchain, along with strict compliance standards, we can increase the quality of private credit investing options available to investors globally.”

According to RWA.xyz, private credit makes up over 60% of all tokenized RWA assets, approaching $10 billion onchain.

Bringing institutional-grade private credit onchain in 2025

The new Goldfinch Prime pool will offer users exposure to institutional-grade private credit, targeting returns of 9% to 12%, net of fees.

All private credit funds in the Goldfinch Prime pool will meet the following stringent criteria:

  • Managed by institutional firms with at least $1 billion AUM and 10+ years of private credit experience.
  • Portfolios with expected >90% senior secured loans and <5% payment-in-kind interest income.
  • Target average non-accrual loan rate <1%.
  • Funds must be registered with the SEC with robust quarterly reporting.

“We believe Goldfinch Prime offers the most diversified single pool of institutional-grade private credit funds available onchain. It’s an exciting new direction for the Goldfinch community,” said Blake West, co-founder of Goldfinch. “We want to deliver only high-quality funds with world-class reputations as private credit expands over the coming years.”

Goldfinch Prime will be structured as a continuous offering, allowing users to make investments at any time. Users will deposit USDC and receive a GPRIME pool token representing their proportional stake in the pool.

To ensure strict compliance standards, the Goldfinch community has designated a counterparty to execute real-world transactions on behalf of the pool (fund share purchases and redemptions) and interface with the external credit funds. Transparent quarterly reporting will be provided, ensuring that the pool’s investments adhere to the targeted fund criteria.
